Surah Thunder (ar-Ra’d): Chapter 13 (line 20-30)

20. Those who fulfill the promise to God, and do not violate the agreement.

21. And those who join what God has commanded to be joined, and fear their Lord, and dread the dire reckoning.

22. And those who patiently seek the presence of their Lord, and pray regularly, and spend from Our provisions to them, secretly and openly, and repel evil with good. These will have the Ultimate Home.

23. Everlasting Gardens, which they will enter, along with the righteous among their parents, and their spouses, and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate.

24. “Peace be upon you, because you endured patiently. How excellent is the Final Home.”

25. As for those who violate the promise to God, after pledging to keep it, and sever what God has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption on earth—these, the curse will be upon them, and they will have the Worst Home.

26. God dispenses the provisions to whomever He wills, and restricts. And they delight in the worldly life; yet the worldly life, compared to the Hereafter, is only enjoyment.

27. Those who disbelieve say, “If only a miracle was sent down to him from his Lord.” Say, “God leads astray whomever He wills, and He guides to Himself whoever repents.”

28. Those who believe, and whose hearts find comfort in the remembrance of God. Surely, it is in the remembrance of God that hearts find comfort.”

29. For those who believe and do righteous deeds—for them is happiness and a beautiful return.

30. Thus We sent you among a community before which other communities have passed away, that you may recite to them what We revealed to you. Yet they deny the Benevolent One. Say, “He is my Lord; there is no god but He; in Him I trust, and to Him is my repentance.”

My Interpretation:

Good begets Good. Bad begets Bad. Simple.

Those who do all the destruction on earth, listening to their dark desires and egos will reap what they sow.

To all the innocent good people of the world, your tired souls will have rest in God’s Gardens of Bliss. Do not lose hope during this hard time in our own age. Don’t let the events of others change you for the worst.

John Coffey, there is a place where rivers flow and fruits grow in abundance for innocent souls like yours. I love this book and movie.

Allah in the Shawshank Redemption: The Law of Balance

One movie that I absolutely LOVE as a muslim woman, is the Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont. It is not a fantasy film by any means (which I do love the most), but there is a strong spiritual theme that glows softly in this film.

Once again, I am in home in bed, I have a pinched nerve in the back and it gave me a painful case of sciatica.  I am watching movies to try to keep my mind off the discomfort and pain, and last night I ended up finishing this movie which I have seen before, but never went through the entire end of it, until last night.

Morgan Freeman is phenomenal in this movie, I enjoy his narrative in telling the story about Andy, the banker who was convicted of murdering his wife and her lover. I do not want to ruin the movie, so I won’t give too much away for those who truly have not seen this movie yet. It’s an oldie, but a goodie that everyone should watch.

Yes, it is extremely brutal and sad in some parts, but so beautiful in others. It reminded me much about life and how you need to see the glimmers of “heaven” while on earth in order to keep you going. Cause reality is often times very cold, dense, and seems so far away from God. But when you truly look at the subtleties of human behavior and nature around you, you can see glimpses of our amazing Creator.

Although, the theme of hope, forgiveness, and redemption is very clear in this film as far as criminals and convicts finding their morality in a place that is almost void of it, there is another theme that I have not seen others talk about on the internet pertaining to this movie, that I would like to: Balance.

There is much confusion as to what or who is God. And in this movie, it is entirely clear to me WHAT is God. Although the image of God is very misty in my mind, as the creator force behind this beautiful universe, I still can see a trait shining through that has shown up in my life and in others.

It’s the LAW of truth. As Gandhi once said, “There is no God higher than Truth.”

But what does this really mean? For me it means that all things are balanced in the end. Some may call it karma and some may call it “balancing of the universe”. Either way it is clear in this movie, that when bad things happen to a good person, AND they still remain honest, kind, and patient. God will always show them the way.

Andy was in prison for a crime he did not commit for 20 years. He was patient, kind and put forth the effort to help others around him even in his predicament.  He did not judge the other prisoners for what they have done and I thought it was a beautiful moment when he asked for the name of the new prisoner that died that first night. While nobody else seemed to care, Andy was open and vulnerable to showing that he did. God showed him the way out of that prison because he did not deserve being there. It was an imbalance of the universe for an innocent man to be locked up and treated so badly.

Andy’s good fortune at the end, seemed to make up for all the bad misfortunes. It was as if the scales all of a sudden have been leveled and now for the rest of his life, he could live out his years in peace and getting back the “love” that he showed others.

Yes, Andy was a very loving person. He was not expressive, nor really a warm person, but he genuinely CARED about his fellow inmates and made it a point to give them the little moments of joy he physically could provide. Such as asking for beers for them to have on their last days of working for the guards, and playing the beautiful opera music across the prison that day for all to enjoy for a brief time. He also helped others by teaching them, and setting up a great library for the prisoners to enrich their mind while in the cell.

It is such an amazing contrast to the religious warden, who seemed to believe in God, yet he never even followed his own Bible. He was a cruel man, in lip service to God. And in the end, you see who truly was blessed by God/Allah for the things they have done for others. The warden received his karma and took the cowardly way out of it, while Andy truly did receive his redemption he so deserved.

God is the balancer. The subtle guidance towards finding a way out towards freedom. The force behind this universe, that creates the good to check the bad in the world. The force behind this world, and your consciousness that guides you to creating balance again once you make the wrong choices. If you follow the straight path of kindness, truth, selflessness, and love, you will always see things balanced out in your favor. I have seen it in mine. I have seen it in others, and now I have seen it in countless films including this one that observe the human condition of karma.

There is no escaping from the truth, just as there is no escaping from God as the Ultimate Reality. If an innocent person is wronged, they will be righted eventually. The time is not known when they will break free of the illusion of bad things happening to them. But if they remain true to themselves and don’t follow Satan (ego or dark desires), they will not help, but be able to find peace and see the rewards that they have earned in this life or the next state of existence.

69:2

What is the Inevitable Reality?

God.

78:39

That Day will be the sure Reality: Therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) return to his Lord!

What is God?

the Truth of everything hidden, concealed, manipulated, twisted, made as an illusion to oppress, hurt, take from others.

God will NOT let the truth be unknown forever. Eventually the Ultimate Reality will be known. We do not know when this will be, but we should strive to align ourselves to it by being truthful with ourselves and others.

In the end, truth will always become your redeemer and eventually your liberator.

I was angry at God tonight…but then I woke up again.

I am dead tired tonight. I don’t know about you, but I am feeling an increase in how wrong things are in society. Whoever made us humans work more time in our lives than play? I work 5 days a week, with only the weekends off…and some people even have to work over the weekends! I feel so sorry for them when I hear this. I know how much my body craves to just feel FREE for a few days at a time.
I am not complaining just to complain. I wanted to share a deep experience I just had. I actually got mad at God and cried in the bathroom just awhile ago. For a few days now I have neglected thanking or praying to God..interestingly enough I stopped blogging too, so I shut down emotionally for a few days. That had never happened before to me where I was angry at God. It doesn’t mean I lost any faith, it just means that I have found less meaning in the “lessons” of the struggles and trials of life, rather than the actual pain and suffering in life.
My feet ache. My body is tired. The house is a mess and I don’t even have time except for the weekends to do anything about it. I don’t even have kids yet, and I don’t know how parents do it all. Maybe I am just having a hard time with management of my time. But I am exhausted and as I cried to God I felt better…I am glad I told Him that I am angry. I am saddened by how much this life feels a little like hell and punishment at times.
Were humans really that bad? I started to think deeply about this on the bathroom floor and a thought popped into my head, one word actually. Capitalists. People say never to blame others like this, but I think it is to pacify us. I never really thought of this before, but SOMEONE started the 7 day work week. SOMEONE allowed stores to stay open ALL the time and not allow a restful day from commerce. SOMEONE got greedy and shifted our need for money over God. I mean, I seriously am always stressed about money and having enough, yet..I also get a strange pleasure being a consumer because consumerism has a way of making things look so beautiful for living a tiring life. It’s a tough “rat race”  and when I really sat down and thought about it, I realized it is NOT God’s fault at all and my anger is misdirected. I am not the only one, google: “capitalists destroying world”, and see what happens.
Here is an interesting article on the decline of society if we keep heading this way: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/capitalism-is-killing-our-morals-our-future-2013-04-27
We humans will one day have to start creating a new and improved life for all. I know I am not alone in my exhaustion. I see it in my fellow beings faces as they shuffle slowly back home or quickly, after work. We are tired and sick of working so much to enjoy life. If you ever ride the public transportation, it is the most depressing sight ever coming home from rush hour on a week day. Everyone just wants to get HOME and rest. I await the day we decide together as a group to stop this obsession over money and start to really focus on what is important for all.
I don’t know…maybe I have to do this within my own life first and not worry about the world, but I am caught in a cycle of having to work to pay the bills, and then trying to escape from reality a bit with beautiful surroundings and things…I feel like I am caught up in a dream..and it really is about money. I have no need for the power of it, but I long for the escape from my reality it brings me.
I realized on the cold bathroom floor as I poured my heart out to God, that we have really evil people in the world and they have made money our “god”, instead of creation and expression of Life itself as “Allah”. God helped me through this and I want others to know that if we are in a midst of some sort of cosmic realization, I feel it too and they are not alone.
I am not mad at God anymore after expressing my anger…I am mad at the men playing gods of this earth and ruling over others. May God help me with this anger too…now excuse me, I need to go soak my aching body in the bathtub…
Is it possible in the future to live more efficiently and spend more time enjoying LIFE?, that is my question and I hope I can be part of this change for all the aching bodies in the world.

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 150-160) The Cow

150. And wherever you come from, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. And wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. So that the people may not have any argument against you-except those who do wrong among them. So do not fear them, but fear Me, that I may complete My blessings upon you, and that you may be guided.

151. Just as We sent to you a messenger from among you, who recites Our revelations to you, and purifies you, and teaches you the Book and wisdom, and teaches you what you did not know.

152. So remember Me, and I will remember you. And thank Me, and do not be ungrateful.

153. O you who believe! Seek help through patience and prayers. God is with the steadfast.

154. And do not say of those who are killed in the cause of God, “Dead.” Rather, they are alive, but you do not perceive.

155. We will certainly test you with some fear and hunger, and some loss of possessions and lives and crops. But give good news to the steadfast.

156. Those who, when a calamity afflicts them, say, “To God we belong, and to Him we will return.”

157. Upon these are blessings and mercy from their Lord. These are the guided ones.

158. Safa and Marwa are among the rites of God. Whoever makes the Pilgrimage to the House, or performs the Umrah, commits no error by circulating between them. Whoever volunteers good-God is Appreciative and Cognizant.

159. Those who suppress the proofs and the guidance We have revealed, after We have clarified them to humanity in the Scripture-those-God curses them, and the cursers curse them.

160. Except those who repent, and reform, and proclaim. Those-I will accept their repentance. I am the Acceptor of Repentance, the Merciful.

My Interpretation:

This is Gabriel saying to Muhammad these are the words he must speak for God to the people as the next chosen prophet in this historical time. He must remind the people that they are and will be slaughtered and oppressed by those in Mecca who hate to see their pagan religion system crumbling. But he gives them glad tidings, that there is no such thing as “death” for these brave souls who are killed by others. They are very much alive in the spiritual world that we can not see.

These lines read as an inspiring speech to start a revolution and to know that God is with them. The brave choices they make as righteous believers will not go unseen by God. All good acts are recorded and reflected upon.

There is also a curse put upon those who become the mortal enemies of God and the messengers, and their punishment for not listening to Muhammad, will not be light in the hereafter.

I see Hell as a state of being or conscious state you can end up in after death, if in life you denied Heaven and God. After all-we are the co-creators of our realities, and this extends to the afterlife as well.

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 140-150) The Cow

140. Or do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs were Jews or Christians? Say, “Do you know better, or God?” And who does greater wrong than he who conceals a testimony he has from God? God is not unaware of what you do.

141. That was a community that has passed. To them is what they have earned, and to you is what you have earned. And you will not be questioned about what they used to do.

142. The ignorant among the people will say, “What has turned them away from the direction of prayer they once followed?” Say, “To God belong the East and the West. He guides whom He wills to a straight path.”

143. Thus We made you a moderate community, that you may be witnesses to humanity, and that the Messenger may be a witness to you. We only established the direction of prayer, which you once followed, that We may distinguish those who follow the Messenger from those who turn on their heels. It is indeed difficult, except for those whom God has guided. But God would never let your faith go to waste. God is Kind towards the people, Merciful.

144. We have seen your face turned towards the heaven. So We will turn you towards a direction that will satisfy you. So turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. And wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. Those who were given the Book know that it is the Truth from their Lord; and God is not unaware of what they do.

145. Even if you were to bring to those who were given the Book every proof, they would not follow your direction, nor are you to follow their direction, nor do they follow the direction of one another. And if you were to follow their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, you would be in that case one of the wrongdoers.

146. Those to whom We have given the Book recognize it as they recognize their own children. But some of them conceal the truth while they know.

147. The truth is from your Lord, so do not be a skeptic.

148. To every community is a direction towards which it turns. Therefore, race towards goodness. Wherever you may be, God will bring you all together. God is capable of everything.

149. And wherever you come from, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. This is the truth from your Lord, and God is not heedless of what you do.

150. And wherever you come from, turn your face towards the Sacred Mosque. And wherever you may be, turn your faces towards it. So that the people may not have any argument against you-except those who do wrong among them. So do not fear them, but fear Me, that I may complete My blessings upon you, and that you may be guided.

My Interpretation:

Here is ultimate proof that Muhammad did not write this Quran. Because of the perspective it takes. Gabriel is telling Muhammad that only he is responsible for his self and his acts, and what the other prophets have done will not be part of his earnings. When people read this Quran they need to see that this is a glimpse into what Muhammad was told…it’s as if we are seeing a recoding of some sort. It shows moments in time and is written in a way that isn’t humanly possible. It is extremely hard to write in the perspective of telling yourself something that you will need to then tell to others.

Gabriel seems to be able to show Muhammad glimpses or visions of times in which certain individuals challenged the prophets of old. Perhaps at this point Gabriel is reading from the Book of Life where all thoughts and words are imprinted and can be referenced to again. Some spiritualists call this the “akashic  records” that is a sanskrit name that means “sky” that reference to another dimension where all records of time and events are held. Certain points in the Quran, I see this happening as if in the cave Muhammad is taken through time to show what has happened exactly in the past in order to prevent it in the future.

So here it is revealed to Muhammad that when the Gospel was written by chosen disciples of Jesus, like John, the Jewish elders or pharisees doubted it as the word of God. And there is a warning that as Muhammad turns his followers to pray towards the Kabbah under ONE God, then the pagans will ask what is going on as they see the pagan rituals rejected.

What I love about this is the idea that the angel then says, the West and the East, ALL directions belong to God. So it does not matter what land they lay claim on. God of Abraham is over all things. This is proof too, that the Quran was meant for all of mankind across every direction.

There is a great idea of community established here in these verses, one of all righteous people will be coming together, brought together by God through His Will for goodness to spread.

gandhi1

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 130-140) The Cow

130. Who would forsake the religion of Abraham, except he who fools himself? We chose him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.

131. When his Lord said to him, “Submit!” He said, “I have submitted to the Lord of the Worlds.”

132. And Abraham exhorted his sons, and Jacob, “O my sons, God has chosen this religion for you, so do not die unless you have submitted.”

133. Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, and he said to his sons, “What will you worship after Me?” They said, “We will worship your God, and the God of your fathers, Abraham, Ishmael, and Isaac; One God; and to Him we submit.”

134. That was a community that has passed; for them is what they have earned, and for you is what you have earned; and you will not be questioned about what they used to do.

135. And they say, “Be Jews or Christians, and you will be guided.” Say, “Rather, the religion of Abraham, the Monotheist; he was not an idolater.”

136. Say, “We believe in God; and in what was revealed to us; and in what was revealed to Abraham, and Ishmael, and Isaac, and Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus; and in what was given to the prophets-from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we surrender.”

137. If they believe in the same as you have believed in, then they have been guided. But if they turn away, then they are in schism. God will protect you against them; for He is the Hearer, the Knower.

138. God’s coloring. And who gives better coloring than God? “And we are devoted to Him.”

139. Say, “Do you argue with us about God, when He is our Lord and your Lord, and We have our works, and you have your works, and we are sincere to Him?”

140. Or do you say that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs were Jews or Christians? Say, “Do you know better, or God?” And who does greater wrong than he who conceals a testimony he has from God? God is not unaware of what you do.

My Interpretation:

Now we are getting deeper into the past, and showing how Islam is a call to revert back to the original religion of Abraham. Also as you can see, God includes Isaac and Ishmael as the righteous descendants of Abraham…so there you go. Jews and Muslims can end the debate forever. The brothers were equal in righteousness and considered as part of the bloodline of righteous believers.

Here Gabriel is saying Jews and Christians claim that the original religion is theirs. However historically, Abraham did not claim a name for the religion and instead it was a way of life of good deeds and monotheistic devotion. Islam is a way of life, and never was supposed to be a rigid religion and here we see this clearly.

spiritual truth

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 120-130) The Cow

120. The Jews and the Christians will not approve of you, unless you follow their creed. Say, “God’s guidance is the guidance.” Should you follow their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, you will have in God neither guardian nor helper.

121. Those to whom We have given the Scripture follow it, as it ought to be followed-these believe in it. But as for those who reject it-these are the losers.

122. O Children of Israel! Remember My blessing which I bestowed upon you, and that I have favored you over all people.

123. And beware of a Day when no soul will avail another soul in any way, and no ransom will be accepted from it, and no intercession will benefit it, and they will not be helped.

124. And when his Lord tested Abraham with certain words, and he fulfilled them. He said, “I am making you a leader of humanity.” He said, “And my descendants?” He said, “My pledge does not include the wrongdoers.”

125. And We made the House a focal point for the people, and a sanctuary. Use the shrine of Abraham as a place of prayer. And We commissioned Abraham and Ishmael, “Sanctify My House for those who circle around it, and those who seclude themselves in it, and those who kneel and prostrate.”

126. When Abraham said, “O My Lord, make this a peaceful land, and provide its people with fruits-whoever of them believes in God and the Last Day.” He said, “And whoever disbelieves, I will give him a little enjoyment, then I will consign him to the punishment of the Fire; how miserable the destiny!”

127. As Abraham raises the foundations of the House, together with Ishmael, “Our Lord, accept it from us, You are the Hearer, the Knower.

128. Our Lord, and make us submissive to You, and from our descendants a community submissive to You. And show us our rites, and accept our repentance. You are the Acceptor of Repentance, the Merciful.

129. Our Lord, and raise up among them a messenger, of themselves, who will recite to them Your revelations, and teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. You are the Almighty, the Wise.”

130. Who would forsake the religion of Abraham, except he who fools himself? We chose him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.

My Interpretation:

Muhammad is being shown the truth of how Abraham had once done the same to speak up against the pagan idolatry of his people. He was tested with a trail that he passed that I will speak about later in the verses. And was considered God’s messenger to tell all the people that they needed to stop the pagan worship of their gods and goddesses that demanded blood and sacrifices.

Gabriel is saying that the Kabbah that was the place of worship of these gods was actually the shrine that Abraham converted his people to monotheism. The story is he smashed 300 idols of gods and goddesses inside the Kabbah. So today the Kabbah is not a thing to be worshipped, but a place of reflection for all the muslims had to endure in order to bring Islam to the land.

Gabriel also is giving Muhammad a prayer to say when the people are together by the Mecca in brotherhood and sisterhood.

Abraham becomes a great leader of his people with his son Ishmael. There is a point that Abraham says to God that he hopes his whole family can join him in this, and God replies saying that it is up to them whether they become one of the righteous. So clearly God does not say “No”, which is the constant conflict Jews and Muslims have together. Jews say it was Isaac who became the righteous leader with Abraham. Isaac was another son, and I will say in my heart I will not say whether Isaac was righteous or not, as God said…”My pledge does not include the wrongdoers.” So was Isaac not as morally upright as Ishmael? Or did God just leave it up to be discovered later? These are questions that continue to haunt the Jews and Muslims, but here I show it is not direct whether Isaac was not a righteous believer of God or not.

Paganism still exists today where many gods and goddesses are still worshipped. What I have come to see is this separates people into sects of each different god. We see it it history and the greeks even went to war over their gods. I also have come to see ALLAH means ONE, and so if you divide this ONE, you risk uniting what was always meant to be brought together again after the Tower of Babel event, where God made us all speak different languages so we could not build the Babylon tower of Nimrod.

To me, there is peaceful paganism which effects no one, but there is an ugly side to paganism that causes nothing but war, competition, and excess blood rituals and worships that evoke sprits and energies unseen. The Ancient Egyptians were great pagans, and their kingdoms were influenced by power and spiritual quest at the suffering of others to build it. The Ancient Greeks also were pagans that committed great sins for their gods killing Christians in Rome, when the Christians believed in one God, Jesus taught about.

So do you see? Paganism has also caused war and destruction as well.

When God is ONE, it becomes more clear and less manipulation can be had. It’s as if God wanted us all to realize we came from the same source by honoring the one source, we can come together as one in love and unity.
One God + One Book=One Love and Understanding

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 90-100) The Cow

91. And when it is said to them, “Believe in what God has revealed,” they say, “We believe in what was revealed to us,” and they reject anything beyond that, although it is the truth which confirms what they have. Say, “Why did you kill God’s prophets before, if you were believers?”

92. Moses came to you with clear proofs, yet you adopted the calf in his absence, and you were in the wrong.

93. And We made a covenant with you, and raised the Mount above you: “Take what We have given you firmly, and listen.” They said, “We hear and disobey.” And their hearts became filled with the love of the calf because of their disbelief. Say, “Wretched is what your faith commands you to do, if you are believers.”

94. Say, “If the Final Home with God is yours alone, to the exclusion of all other people, then wish for death if you are sincere.”

95. But they will never wish for it, because of what their hands have forwarded. God is aware of the evildoers.

96. You will find them, of all mankind, the most eager for life, even more than the polytheists. Every one of them wishes he could live a thousand years; but to be granted a long life will not nudge him from the punishment. God is Seeing of what they do.

97. Say, “Whoever is hostile to Gabriel-it is he who revealed it to your heart by God’s leave, confirming what preceded it, and guidance and good news for the believers.”

98. Whoever is hostile to God, and His angels, and His messengers, and Gabriel, and Michael-God is hostile to the faithless.

99. We have revealed to you clear signs, and none rejects them except the sinners.

100. Is it not that whenever they make a covenant, some of them toss it aside? In fact, most of them do not believe.

My Interpretation:

Archangel Gabriel is telling Muhammad about the way the Isralites leaders and their followers decided to stray from the truth and worship the Golden Calf. I know this deity as “Moloch” an ancient cow or bull god, that was said to give wealth and power if they sacrificed their children to fire by this statue. This was an ancient Israelite deity that some of them believed secretly in practice while, some of them believed in God. Not all of them trusted Moses nor followed his examples.

At this point I see God not as a jealous God, as the Bible says, but as a “concerned” one. Concerned that pagan worship would spread and human sacrifice will gain further influence over people’s minds. Islam is COMPLETELY against all human sacrifice or blood to God. There is no blood needed for the Lord of the Worlds that has all the blood drops as much as there are stars in the skies. The Burning Bush that spoke to Moses was to start this catalyst of getting mankind back on track of not worshipping evil and cruel gods that demand suffering. But some sadly did not want to listen.

There is an idea that there were other prophets as well as Moses, that were evil killed by those Jewish leaders unjustly. Gabriel is letting Muhammad know that you can never hide a thing from God and all lies are revealed eventually.

Anyone who is an open enemy to angels, prophets, messengers, or God…is on the side of the one who is an enemy to them as well-Satan.

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 80-90) The Cow

80. And they say, “The Fire will not touch us except for a number of days.” Say, “Have you received a promise from God-God never breaks His promise-or are you saying about God what you do not know?”

81. Indeed, whoever commits misdeeds, and becomes besieged by his iniquities-these are the inmates of the Fire, wherein they will dwell forever.

82. As for those who believe and do righteous deeds-these are the inhabitants of Paradise, wherein they will dwell forever.

83. We made a covenant with the Children of Israel: “Worship none but God; and be good to parents, and relatives, and orphans, and the needy; and speak nicely to people; and pray regularly, and give alms.” Then you turned away, except for a few of you, recanting.

84. And We made a covenant with you: “You shall not shed the blood of your own, nor shall you evict your own from your homes.” You agreed, and were all witnesses.

85. But here you are, killing your own, and expelling a group of your own from their homes-conspiring against them in wrongdoing and hostility. And if they come to you as captives, you ransom them, although it was forbidden to you. Is it that you believe in part of the Scripture, and disbelieve in part? What is the reward for those among you who do that but humiliation in this life? And on the Day of Resurrection, they will be assigned to the most severe torment. God is not unaware of what you do.

86. Those are they who bought the present life for the Hereafter, so the punishment will not be lightened for them, nor will they be helped.

87. We gave Moses the Scripture, and sent a succession of messengers after him. And We gave Jesus son of Mary the clear proofs, and We supported him with the Holy Spirit. Is it that whenever a messenger comes to you with anything your souls do not desire, you grew arrogant, calling some impostors, and killing others?

88. And they said, “Our hearts are sealed.” Rather, God has cursed them for their ingratitude. They have little faith.

89. And when a scripture came to them from God, confirming what they have-although previously they were seeking victory against those who disbelieved-but when there came to them what they recognized, they disbelieved in it. So God’s curse is upon the disbelievers.

90. Miserable is what they sold their souls for-rejecting what God has revealed, out of resentment that God would send down His grace upon whomever He chooses from among His servants. Thus they incurred wrath upon wrath. And there is a demeaning punishment for the disbelievers.

My Interpretation:

Archangel Gabriel is still telling Muhammad what happened to the Jewish nation after Moses gave commandments. This must have take place many years after Moses, where the commandments, Sabbath, and other rituals of worship has been altered by the Jewish priesthood. There is also a very sad idea that those in power and influence sold their own people into slavery. So once again this is proof to me that they are not speaking about all Jews, but are speaking to the wealthy elite class that once again lost their humility in their social status.

How sad for the Jews did Muhammad feel in his heart! I actually cry as I type this because I think it is so wrong for a class of people to create a caste system when we are all equal under God. Islam brings the idea that a good slave is loved and equal to a good king. There is no distinction in men in terms of wealth or power, there is only distinction in the hearts.

I will say looking at the Quran you learn that the poor class of Jews have been poorly treated in life, and I do believe they are part of the People of the Book, and will receive their rewards in heaven where they can finally have peace. I am crying still as I think of the Holocaust and how it was only the poor Jews that they saw as “undesirable” to be selected to work in the factories of Germany. So they put poor , old and disabled Jews into the fire. Well I will say with passionate conviction, God will put them in the fire that they showed others.

Everything is reflected back and your karma is REAL. God is saying in these passages that the pain that the leader Jews created for their own people will cause a suffering they can not escape from, even if this life allows them the freedom to live lavishly standing on the backs of others.

The Jewish elders rejected the Gospel coming to them only claiming the truth of the Torah, but God sent down this book as a test and as a support for the book they held as truth. This is why they plotted to kill Jesus later, threatened by the truth that they did not hold Heaven as monopoly.

Surah Al-Baqarah: Chapter 2 (line 70-80) The Cow

70. They said, “Call upon your Lord to show us which one; the heifers look alike to us; and God willing, we will be guided.”

71. He said, “He says she is a heifer, neither yoked to plow the earth, nor to irrigate the field; sound without blemish.” They said, “Now you have brought the truth.” So they slew her; though they almost did not.

72. And recall when you killed a person, and disputed in the matter; but God was to expose what you were hiding.

73. We said, “Strike him with part of it.” Thus God brings the dead to life; and He shows you His signs, that you may understand.

74. Then after that your hearts hardened. They were as rocks, or even harder. For there are some rocks from which rivers gush out, and others that splinter and water comes out from them, and others that sink in awe of God. God is not unaware of what you do.

75. Do you hope that they will believe in you, when some of them used to hear the Word of God, and then deliberately distort it, even after understanding it?

76. And when they come across those who believe, they say, “We believe,” but when they come together privately, they say, “Will you inform them of what God has disclosed to you, so that they might dispute with you concerning it before your Lord?” Do you not understand?

77. Do they not know that God knows what they conceal and what they reveal?

78. And among them are uneducated who know the Scripture only through hearsay, and they only speculate.

79. So woe to those who write the Scripture with their own hands, and then say, “This is from God,” that they may exchange it for a little price. Woe to them for what their hands have written, and woe to them for what they earn.

80. And they say, “The Fire will not touch us except for a number of days.” Say, “Have you received a promise from God-God never breaks His promise-or are you saying about God what you do not know?”

My Interpretation:

Muhammad is being told what happened to his fellow Jewish neighbors of the Middle East, in terms of their disbelief about God. For some reason, a faction of them were skeptical of God and kept questioning about the cow. Eventually they killed the cow, but they almost did not do it due to their disbelief. Next a murder took place and there was an argument about it without a proper trial, and so God brought this man back to life to show them what they have done.

line 77 is so meaningful, that even if people speak nice words or act as one thing on the surface, God knows what is underneath. So never be good for rewards, the intention has to come from a honest place otherwise God will see that.

Many atheists like to argue that religious people do things for rewards from God. This is not true, and in these verses is the ultimate argument to that idea. When you do things with a reward or exterior motivation in mind, then it cancels out the good you do and God sees this.

There is a idea, that many people in high places (not just Jewish leaders, but instead many pagan, christian, or other faiths seem to come together under the same hatred for the truth. Misery loves company. However, they are still lying to each other, as well as to Muhammad by saying sweet words, but really meaning something else.

So they play with the words of God altering it for their own enjoyment and approval and tell their ideas to others. This is the start of the manipulations in the holy books. Some things were written, some not at all, some things were taken out and changed to something else. It is hard to decipher the truth unless you have a good compass that points the way.

The Quran acts as a compass and helps show the truth.

The ones who created the mischief on earth with say that they will live long anyways, and not have to worry about the punishment they will get, if ever. Gabriel lets Muhammad know how wrong they are and they can not escape their fate. Human life is a millisecond compared to God’s infinite existence, and when you think you have lots of time to do good, and procrastinate good deeds, that’s when you start to see time slip by.
